Scammer Red Flags
How to spot a scam before you lose money
Scammers follow predictable patterns. If you see any of these warning signs, stop immediately and walk away. No legitimate business operates this way.
-
1
Gift Card or Crypto Only
Scammers demand payment exclusively via Amazon Gift Cards, iTunes cards, Google Play cards, or cryptocurrency because these are untraceable and irreversible. A real business accepts multiple payment methods including bank transfers, cash on delivery, and verified digital wallets.
If they refuse all payment methods except gift cards or crypto, it’s a scam. -
2
No Proof of Stock or Delivery
Scammers cannot show you real-time photos, videos, or live verification of their products. They use stolen images from Google or other websites. Ask for a photo with today’s date written on paper next to the product — scammers will make excuses or disappear.
A real seller can show live video proof instantly. Scammers cannot. -
3
Hidden Fees After Deposit
After you pay, scammers invent “customs fees,” “delivery charges,” “insurance,” or “release fees” that were never mentioned before. They keep demanding more money. This is a classic extortion tactic. Legitimate sellers quote the full price upfront with no surprises.
Any “extra fee” after payment is a scam. Real businesses disclose all costs upfront. -
4
Blackmail and Threats
Some scammers go further — after taking your money, they threaten to report you to authorities unless you send more. They use your payment details, address, or messages against you. This is criminal extortion. Never engage. Block and report them immediately.
Blackmail is a crime. Report it to police and cease all contact immediately. -
5
No Physical Address or Real Identity
Scammers hide behind fake names, burner phones, and anonymous Telegram accounts. They have no registered business, no physical store, no social media presence with real engagement, and no verifiable reviews on independent platforms like Trustpilot or Google.
Search their name, number, or website. Scammers leave a trail of complaints. -
6
Too Good to Be True Prices
Scammers lure victims with unrealistically low prices — “90% off,” “buy 2 get 5 free,” or prices far below market rate. Quality THC vapes have a real cost. If the deal seems impossible, it is. You’re paying for nothing.
If the price is 50%+ below market average, it’s almost certainly a scam. -
7
Pressure Tactics and Urgency
Scammers create false urgency: “Only 2 left!” “Price goes up in 1 hour!” “Send now or lose your spot!” They want you to pay before you think or research. Legitimate sellers don’t pressure you. Take your time, verify everything, and never rush a payment.
Any seller pressuring you to pay immediately is hiding something. -
8
Fake Reviews and Testimonials
Scammers populate their sites and social media with fake reviews, stolen photos, and fabricated testimonials. Look for reviews on independent platforms (Google, Trustpilot, Reddit) not just their own website. Check if the reviewer names and photos appear elsewhere online.
Reverse-image search their “customer photos.” Scammers steal them from Instagram.
How to Verify a Real Seller
Steps every buyer should take before paying anyone
Before you send money to any seller — including us — follow these verification steps. A legitimate business will pass every test. Scammers will fail most of them.
Ask for Live Proof
Request a real-time video or photo of the exact product with today’s date written on paper. A real seller can do this in minutes. Scammers will refuse, delay, or send old/stolen photos.
Check Payment Options
Real businesses accept multiple payment methods: bank transfer, cash on delivery, verified digital wallets, and traceable options. Scammers only want gift cards or crypto.
Research Their Name
Google their website, phone number, and Telegram handle with words like “scam,” “fake,” or “review.” Scammers leave a trail of victim reports on forums and social media.
Look for a Real Website
Check if their site has a real domain (not a free subdomain), SSL certificate, contact page with real info, and active social media with genuine engagement. Scam sites are template clones.
Test Their Customer Service
Ask detailed questions about products, delivery, and policies. Real sellers know their inventory and answer professionally. Scammers give vague, copy-paste responses or get defensive.
Start Small
If you’re unsure, place a small test order first. A legitimate seller will honor it perfectly. A scammer will take any amount and vanish — but at least you lose less.
